4 Months!

She is no longer a newborn, she's an infant! She LOVES to stand and loves airplane and those are two surefire ways to get her to chill and/or smile almost instantly. There are times she will ONLY stand...or else! She loves her crib mirror and finally likes tummy time now because she can look up at her stuffed animals. On 4/24 she rolled over, successfully, on her own!!!  From the back to her front, she untucked her bottom arm, placed both on the mattress and then lifted her head with her little arms with such great confidence! She eats her hands, constantly, and grabs everything in site...all of which ends up in her mouth. The other day she actually really laughed!! A few staccato chuckles and a huge smile. She is not at all sleeping through the night. She's sleeping from about 7:30-12, 1-3 or 4 and in bed with me by 6 only to eat twice more by 8.  So we just started giving her a bottle of formula at night, to "fill her tank." We'll see how that goes. She has a nasty habit of only going poop when we are out.  It's nothin' nice when it only comes out every couple days, and then to deal with it in public, sheesh child! She is staring down other children, checking out other people her size. We started going to the Mommy Movie at the Grove on Mondays and Deia's first flick was "He's Just Not That Into You." Her second was "Confessions of A Shopaholic." She sleeps, eats, poops, eats and maybe catches 10 minutes of the flick. When I looked around and saw other mothers allowing their kids to watch a bit, I felt a little better about it. Hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and if Deia watches a few minutes of a movie every week or so, we'll all be ok :-)

Exersaucer

Behold, thus far the best invention to date...the Exersaucer!  Just when we couldn't put her down ANYWHERE, she seemed sturdy enough for this monstrosity.  It is a gift from above though.  She LOVES it.  And when she is not hungry and trying to eat it, she is curious and playful for, eh, 10 minutes on her own.  That 10 minutes is golden and as she gets more comfortable sitting upright on her own, she'll spend much more time in it exploring.  She is 16 weeks in this photo.  Such a big, little girl!

Sitting Up!

The only thing better than sitting is standing.  Long gone are the days of relaxing on her back.  Deia always finds her happiness when upright and you can stop her from fussing on cue just by propping or holding her up!  She'll wrap her little fingers around yours and you'll feel her engage her teeny stomach muscles.  A little tug and she's up and showing great confidence.  She loves her new perspective of the world and tends to tell you aaaallll about it when she's up there.  Especially when she is held up to stand. We are shocked that she can bare almost all her body weight on those mini legs.  ...although, those thighs are pretty scrumptious...

Necessary Gear

Bless the Bumbo!  She's a little too small for it but enjoys it for about 10 minutes at the time...which is just enough time for me to shovel something in my mouth in the morning.  She no longer sits in her vibrating chair...that lasted only 2 days after her harness came off.   So the trick, for us, seems to be prepared.  Which means having all necessary gear before she is actually ready for it.  That way it's in the house when, from one second to the next, the thing that once worked doesn't fly anymore. She is 15 weeks in this photo!

Be My Valentine

February 14th...the day her parents met and the day Deia was conceived.  What a wonderful day to celebrate love!

The Bald Spot

I guess all babies get this bald spot. She did a good job burning this one out, but it's actually funny to see all the little hairs on her mattress! Look at the little tail that is now SO much more pronounced. Haha.

Chillin'

This is how she sleeps...almost 80% of the times I check in on her. Her little arms up and her hands behind her head, as if she is relaxing in the sun.  It's so adorable and she always looks at peace and, well, chillin'!

Her Throne

Auntie Norma sent Deia her own personalized club chair.  Deia sat up in it, unassisted and wobbly, for a good photo shoot. It will be fun when she really understands that that is her seat and will be even better when she does not have to be propped up and monitored!

Freedom!

Deia's pavlik harness was taken off, forever, on thursday the 5th of February!  She was a sweetheart while it was on, smiley and happy. But to see her without the restriction is just beautiful. She is lifting her head and engaging her little abs to sit up and loves standing!  ...with assistance of course ;-)  But she can actually bare a lot of weight on those little legs. She really seems to feel free and is obviously enjoying kicking and rolling and stretching and extending.
