How We Roll At Whole Foods

This is how Deia rolls at the Whole Foods in Venice. She said beep beep and hello to everyone around. Didn't like it when we parked so much :-) Seriously though, I had two grocery bags when we left and you would have thought I made a town payment on that dang car upon checkout!

Breakfast Buddy

Now that we moved to Venice for a little while, we are close to so many adorable little friends! Tal is a special one, only 2 months older than Deia and a gorgeous little girl. I love seeing the two of them play and it's great to watch Deia observe and learn of what's to come in the near future of her development. In our first week by the beach, we had breakfast at Urth twice, 2 play times at the park on the beach and an early morning coffee stroll with the mamas (+ Kristen and Lucian) on Abbot Kinney. We have also, conveniently, seen Magnus and Soraya 3 times, Courntey and Lee and will be seeing many more locals as we enjoy our time in this awesome community! It's amazing how much is available to parents and kids in Venice. As soon as Deia gets down to a single nap, we can finally indulge in music classes, gymnastics and swim lessons! Yay!

Such A Lady

That pinky! It's like she's a proper lady ready for high tea! That pinky is almost always up in the air like that. One day we'll go for an espresso and I'll have to see if she still does it :-)

Mommy & Deia

Never enough pictures of Deia and I because I am always behind the camera. So here's a sweet moment in Mexico, with the wind blowing so nicely in our hair :-)

15 Months!

Deia is 15 months! What a little love. She is very feminine and happy. She loves people and animals and adores other children....calling those older and younger baby. She happily strolls up to friends and strangers and says a quick hi. She dances every time she hears music and thinks it's the second coming when she sees a dog or kitty. Deia prefers making animal noises than calling anything by it's name and spots out a "cak cak" (duck), "woov woov" (dog), or "nay" (horse) from a mile away. She's way too in love with Elmo and asks for him too frequently. We'll indulge her when necessary, and she already knows about youtube and it's never ending source of entertainment. She picks up every cell and says hello, followed by a brief bye and than a motion to put the phone down. She is obsessed with the Abc's now, say A B when she wants us to sing, does a funny tongue thing for LMNO, which I am sure she thinks it one word, and LOVES when she gets to say P. For some reason she is not into the bath or shower these days. Not sure why, because she remains, what we call, "the water tycoon." Her desperation for water has not changed. In any form, out of any cup, sippy, straw, bottle or even in the form of ice, water is everything to her...even at the expense of eating yummy food! She loves tangerines, just started liking peas (finally!), loved noodles and string cheese and must hold her own banana with the peel on it and pulled down. She copies any word you throw at her and is starting to say the names of her relatives. Best of all, she is a kisser (kind of like mom and dad :-). She gives TONS of kisses all day long and almost never on command. So you know she's really feeling it! She blows kisses all the time as well. She's smart and caring enough to know that if one person gets a kiss, the other in the room might feel left out. So she quickly evens the playing field and makes sure everyone has gotten their smooch! Deia and Blubo are inseparable. We tried to keep him a bedtime buddy, but she tends to drag him around as much as possible.  At 15 months Deia weighed 24.5 pounds and is 31 inches tall. She is in the 90% for height and 70% for weight. The dr found her to be perfect. Very smart (which is always nice to hear) and tall and thin, "she just looks like a round kind of skinny." Lol. Deia really doesn't like the dr's office and knows very well who administers her vaccines. She cries immediately when this particular woman walks in. When her temp or ears are being checked, she always screams "All Done! All Done!" It's amazing how a person so young is already so perceptive and communicative. She's big for her age, but still so very tiny. We love her more and more every second and are really enjoying the latest age. Having a "conversation" with your baby is amazing and I can't believe how much more amazing it's going to get! Now, if we could get to 1 nap a day......

Ay Senorita!

Deia crossed the border for the 3rd time this January. She was doing her cha-cha in Tulum this time and said plenty of "hola's" along the way. She loved the pool, drinking the water in particular, and loved the sand and other people's empty cocktail glasses. She ran around barefoot, adoring the long paths from the rooms to the restaurants, pools and beach...mostly because they were dotted with lights and speakers. ...both for which she stopped, pointed and freaked out over. She enjoyed her first tastes of fried food, taquitos, chips, nuggets. She also loved virgin pina coladas with her own straw. Her playmates on the trip were Xander Mak and Mystic Lujan. Being surrounded by boys made Deia very flirtatious and curious. She slept like a charm and woke up with smiles every day. And mom had juuuust and little fun playing dress up and eating up those exposed, yummy toes and thighs!

Wedding Belle

Deia went to her first wedding in Tulum, Mexico. It was Anthony and Cami's beachside nuptials and, as you would expect with a 15 month old, she wouldn't sit still for a second of the ceremony. Luckily, she and the flower girl were close in age and enjoying the way each others dresses were kicked up in the wind. They exchanged kisses and pokes and played with rose petals. There's nothing like dressing your little girl in big, poofy frock and watching her shift from side to side to make it dance the way you always she might :-) Knowing what makes you feel like a lady starts oh so young!
